Hannah Smith Photography

Hi Friends! So, we have a great babysitter who is studying to be a photographer. Her name is Hannah Smith. She is 15 and already has an amazing eye for photography. Some of my all time favorite photos of our family and my kids are by Hannah. If you're like me, you want to get some good family photos, but don't want to spend $600 for just 5 of your favorite ones. She charges $100 total.....that includes 2 hours at a location in northern virginia of your choice, all of the photos on a disc for you, (she takes about 400, but probably only 30 or so will be worth editing)and ALL of the editing. That is a great deal and she would love some jobs this summer. If you or anyone you know may be interested in hiring her, please email her at coolcuzhannah@gmail.com
Here are a couple of the photos she has taken of our family in the past year......

A $700 difference

Here is just another reason why I love homegoods. Crate and Barrell is currently selling this chair for $1,088 (with the processing fee included.)
Homegoods was selling this chair below for $399.

Before and After thrift store chairs

I needed 4 chairs for our kitchen table. What I would really love are some white leather tufted parson chairs. But....... Brad and I are in serious "saving for a house mode" so those will just have to wait. :) These chairs were $40 from Salvation Army. They are a little traditional for me, but I tried to make them a bit more contemporary. For only $40, these chairs have definitely treated us right.

Before.......

Again Before....
Then painted a matte white with waverly's cross stitch fabric in green. Much better.

a new space

I rearrange my house all the time. My kids aren't phased in the slightest when I am moving a piece of furniture from room to room. Actually, Maryn also shares my same thrill for moving things around. She is definitely a mini me. Last weekend, I was in one of my moods and I had brad help me swap the living room and dining room. We just never use our living room, and I thought if it were a bit more cozy, we would use it more. So we swapped the furniture. (for now anyways)
Here was the dining room before......
And here is the "dining room" now......
It is really a sweet little place even though it's smaller. I had brad move the light fixture up. I also got a new rug from Pottery Barn which was such a score. I was having dinner with some of my girls at Rio (my happy place) and while we were waiting for our table, we ran into PB next door. This rug (natural diamond jute rug) was rolled up and since it was a floor sample, I got it for $90. The store was just about to close and we were also about to be seated, so my friend Jessi ran to get her car and pulled it around. Then the 3 of us girls took out it together. I have good friends. :)I think the rug really adds to this space.
I enjoy sitting on the couch in the mornings having my quiet time and coffee!

Homegoods Dhurrie Rug $12

I was out with my daughter last night running some errands. She and I ran into Homegoods to return something, and then we quickly browsed the store. I spotted this rug and LOVED it. It is charcoal gray with a cornflower yellow suzani print. I thought it looked like anthro, and the best part is this baby was only $12. I love Homegoods. They also had this same rug in charcoal and turqoise. Those are the colors I am typically drawn to, but Maryn told me she liked the yellow one better and let me tell you, that girl has an eye for design! So, we snatched it up.

The size is 27" x 49". Most homegoods carry the same stuff, so you should be able to find it!
